The Wishing Spell
78
There once was a young lady who was down on her luck. No matter how hard she worked to get ahead, misfortune seemed to await her at every turn. She worked night and day to pay her bills and keep food on the table. Alas it was to no avail as she was always in need. She was most unhappy and felt doomed to live out her days poor and alone.
Each day she would walk to her mailbox to find only more bills that she could not pay. However, on this day a strange letter was found. She stared at the envelope for a moment, expecting it to be addressed to someone else. Yet, her name was written and nothing else. She took it inside with the rest of the mail and sat at her small round table. She opened the envelope and inside found a spell of witchcraft. It was a spell for fulfilling wishes. She shook her head in disbelief of such foolish things and laid it aside as she got up to finish her daily tasks.
The letter lay untouched for several weeks and her misfortune seemed to grow in leaps and bounds. Her thoughts drifted to the strange spell she had received in the mail. Perhaps it was worth a try; it couldn’t hurt right? She picked it up and read the odd words written upon the paper.
Wishes and desires fill my heart and mind.
Into existence I speak them at this time.
Go forth from my lips and be born of me.
Desires and wishes return three times three.
___ is my wish so mote it be.
The incantation was short and to the point. Yet, surely it couldn’t really make her wishes come true. She reflected upon her plight for a moment and decided it wouldn’t hurt to give it a try. She looked at the paper once more and saw something else written below the spell.
This spell can only be used three times, after that all power in the words are lost. And remember; be careful what you wish for.
She wondered why someone would send a wishing spell then warn her to be careful of what she wished. She shrugged the thought aside and prepared for bed. As she closed her eyes she pondered upon what she would wish for.
Upon awakening the next morning she decided her first wish should be for money, since the lack of it was causing most of her problems. She picked up the spell and read the words out loud.
Wishes and desires fill my heart and mind.
Into existence I speak them at this time.
Go forth from my lips and be born of me.
Desires and wishes return three times three.
Money is my wish so mote it be.
Once finished she set the paper aside and went about her daily life. She suspected nothing would change; words written on paper surely wouldn’t have any effect. A few days passed and nothing changed. However, just as she was stepping out the door one morning the phone gave a sharp loud ring. She answered to find a very distant and forgotten relative had passed away and left their entire fortune and estate to her. As she hung up the phone, her eyes wide with disbelief, she wondered if the spell was really the cause of her sudden wealth.
Though she now had more than enough money than needed; she found life still held no joy. She had a large new home and never wanted for anything yet, she still was lonely and miserable. A year passed and now her mind drifted back to the spell, she could use it twice more. Perhaps, it was time to make her second wish. She found the spell which she had placed in a drawer and spoke the words
Wishes and desires fill my heart and mind.
Into existence I speak them at this time.
Go forth from my lips and be born of me.
Desires and wishes return three times three.
A husband is my wish so mote it be.
Months passed and it seemed love was not in her future. Perhaps, the spell hadn’t brought the money after all. Perhaps, it had simply been a coincidence.
That evening the phone yet again gave a sharp loud ring. She answered to find a young man’s voice on the other end. It was someone she had went to high school with. They had never dated but had always been close friends and simply lost touch over the years. He had been searching for her for years and now finally had managed to track her down. He asked her on a date to catch up. As she hung up the phone, her eyes yet again wide with amazement, she thought surely the spell must work.
Within a year the two were married and her life seemed to be right for once. Alas, good things never last and she soon found out the man of her dreams was but a wolf in sheep’s clothing. After only a year of marriage his disposition changed completely. He became cold, controlling, and abusive; not at all the man she had fallen in love with. She contemplated leaving but was terrified, for he had threatened her with death if she ever tried. She was once again miserable and felt trapped. She then remembered the spell; she had one wish left.
Picking up the paper she decided to make her finial wish. She spoke the words out loud
Wishes and desires fill my heart and mind.
Into existence I speak them at this time.
Go forth from my lips and be born of me.
Desires and wishes return three times three.
Problems vanish is my wish so mote it be.
Something odd happened this time after she spoke the words, the page went blank and turned to sand and fell from her hands. As night fell she prepared for bed. She closed her eyes wondering if her final wish would come true as she lay next to her once loving, but now cruel, husband. The next morning she never awoke for she passed away that very night in her slumber. With the cold embrace of death all her problems had come to an end as her final wish had come to pass.

An engaging story with a great Moral...
Human desires and needs are endless.. To truly seek happiness, one has to let go of unwanted desires and limit his wants, satisfying himself and being grateful for watever he is bestowed with!
How lovely, and the spell sounds authentic! Voted up....lilyfly
So important to think things through! Sometimes things we think that will make us happy will really cause more heartache.
