Wolf's Run
60
Run strong one, run free into the night
Frolic and play in the full moonlight
Cry out and call your brethren unto thee
Run together as one proud and free
Sing your songs to the moon shining down
All will stop to marvel at the harmonious sound
The essence of the wild is protected by you
Guard it always though your numbers are few
Wolves of the wild sing and dance in the night
Bathe yourselves in the moon's pale light

...and then there are the prairie wolves, better known today as coyotes. We have plenty of them in the brush-covered acreage around our rural Arizona home, including one special guy. He's a big dog coyote (big for this far South; they grow them larger in Montana and the Dakotas). Big, beautiful--and he knows us well.
When he's coming into our immediate home area, he calls to let us know he's on his way. No, he's no lapdog; he doesn't get that close. But we communicate with him, and he with us.
so very entralling, a wonderful read thanks for sharing it :)
That is beautiful and so true :)
Loved the way you rhymed this together. Great imagery!
I missed Icy. the pup of a Siberian domesticated wolf that was given to me by my cousin. It was hit by a vehicle in our street. What a sad note.
